How to Search Lee Civil Dockets
Major civil and domestic cases sit in Superior Court. Lee Superior uses the account-based PeachCourt route listed in Georgia Courts E-Access. Magistrate is different. Its civil files run through the local Tyler CM Web Search. The county promotes that portal for civil files from 2023 forward and says an account is required, even though a guest search shell appears on screen.
Search by case number whenever it is printed on court paper. For Magistrate party searches, type at least two letters, last name first, with no suffix. Leave status on All at first. Narrow with filing dates only when the results come back too broad.
- Identify Superior, Magistrate, Probate, or a municipal court from the case type.
- Use PeachCourt for Lee Superior or the Tyler portal for covered Magistrate civil files.
- Search the exact number or party name and confirm the court and parties.
- Read the events from complaint through the latest judgment or post-judgment item.
- Request the named document from the responsible clerk when an index entry has no image.
Lee Magistrate's $15,000 Line
The Lee Magistrate Court page assigns civil claims of $15,000 or less to Magistrate Court. Its work also covers dispossessory cases, personal-property foreclosure, deposit-account-fraud matters, garnishments, and other lower-court proceedings. Magistrate holds no jury trials and is not a court of record. Civil appeals from it go to Superior Court.
Superior Court takes the larger and general-jurisdiction matters. Those include divorces and annulments, adoptions, name changes, habeas corpus, damages suits, garnishments, repossessions, and other civil filings the county lists. Estates and guardianships belong to Probate, a separate court. Sharing a building does not fold a Probate file into the Superior civil search.
What a Lee Civil Docket Shows
A Lee County civil docket tracks procedure, nothing more. It may name the filing yet never show its image. Party roles shift by case type too, from plaintiff and defendant to petitioner and respondent, garnishee, intervenor, or owner and agent.
| Case opening | Complaint or petition, case number, filing date, court, and parties. |
|---|---|
| Service | Summons, return, waiver, or failed-service event. |
| Response | Answer, counterclaim, default event, or other response. |
| Motions and orders | Requests, responses, notices, and signed rulings entered by date. |
| Setting | Calendar call, hearing, trial, reset, or continuance. |
| Disposition | Judgment, default judgment, dismissal, nonsuit, or agreed order. |
| Later events | Writ, garnishment, revival, appeal, satisfaction, or collection entry. |
A form deadline is not a judgment. In the same way, a post-judgment garnishment usually attaches to the existing case instead of creating a new underlying claim.
Search Lee Magistrate Party Fields
The local Tyler interface offers Search By Party, Search By Associated Party, and Search By Case Number tabs. Party and associated-party forms share court, division, date, and status filters. The case-number form needs the numeric year plus the numeric sequence.
| Field | Format | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Party Name | Required; two letters minimum; last then first; no suffix | Find the named plaintiff, defendant, or other party |
| Court Code | Optional; MG Magistrate Court | Confirms the local court class |
| Division | Optional dynamic list | Do not guess a division not displayed |
| Date From / To | MM/DD/YYYY | Narrow a broad name search |
| Status | All, Active, Inactive | Use All first |
The form converts names to uppercase and offers Search (F8) and Clear (F5). A guest shell does not promise access to civil document images. The portal itself warns that its online record is not necessarily the official record.
Types of Lee Civil Cases
Court class and remedy both matter. A search fails when the party name is right but the reader picks the wrong custodian.
| Case type | Likely Lee court | Key distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Damages, divorce, adoption, name change | Superior | Search PeachCourt, then use Sara Clark's office |
| Claim of $15,000 or less | Magistrate | Use Tyler for the covered public civil window |
| Dispossessory or personal-property foreclosure | Magistrate | Check service, answer, hearing, and writ events |
| Estate or guardianship | Probate | Use the Probate office, not the Superior portal |
| City ordinance civil matter | Issuing municipal court | Use that city clerk's process |
Lee Claim Forms and Answers
The county's Magistrate form library holds the Statement of Claim, Trover, mechanics lien, writ of possession or foreclosure, reviving dormant judgment, dispossessory summons, garnishment procedures, and answer forms. These papers explain filing inputs. They are not sample dockets.
The official Statement of Claim notice gives the answer deadline: 30 days after service. An answer can be written or spoken in open court, but never by telephone. A hearing time is set after answer. So a filed claim does not prove judgment. The response deadline alone does not fix the hearing date. Read the later Lee County civil docket events for that.
Settings on Lee Civil Dockets
A calendar call, motion hearing, bench trial, jury status, and reset each appear as distinct docket entries. The Southwestern Judicial Circuit publishes Lee civil calendar material by judge. Calendars show a planned call, while the case register carries the longer filing history.
A reset means an earlier setting changed. That is history, not a dismissal. Find the newest notice or signed scheduling order. If a calendar and docket disagree, call the clerk for the court shown on the case. A motion filing is still just a request, never the order that resolves it.
- Default
- A procedural status tied to failure to respond; confirm whether judgment was entered.
- Nonsuit
- An end to a claim without the same meaning as a merits judgment.
- Dismissal
- An order ending some or all claims under the terms stated.
- Judgment
- The court's entered decision, which may be followed by enforcement or appeal.
Lee Civil Appeals Reach Superior
A Magistrate civil appeal moves to Superior Court. Magistrate is not a court of record. That leaves two trails: the lower-court events and the later Superior proceeding. Do not assume the two systems share one case number or one complete event list.
Work the Magistrate record first to identify the lower action, the parties, the judgment, and the appeal event. Then search Lee Superior through PeachCourt. If the later record does not appear, give Sara Clark's office both the Magistrate number and any Superior number on the transfer papers. This court-to-court handoff is one reason a name-only Lee County civil docket search can look incomplete.
Public Access to Lee Civil Dockets
Public access does not put every document or field online. Adoption records, protected family material, sealed filings, personal identifiers, and other restricted content can be withheld or redacted. A public case can still hold a sealed page. A missing result may also trace to the Magistrate portal's 2023-forward window or the wrong court class.
Access framework: Uniform Superior Court Rules 21 and 21.6 address court access and protected data. O.C.G.A. ยงยง 50-18-70 through 50-18-77 state Georgia's general open-records rules, while the court custodian and any sealing order control release of the court file.
Ask the clerk what part is restricted and whether a redacted copy or court-order process exists. An online absence is not proof that no case was filed.
Request Missing Lee Civil Filings
Need a Superior civil filing the docket page leaves out? Sara Clark handles those requests. The office sits at 100 Leslie Highway, PO Box 49, Leesburg, GA 31763. Her line is 229-759-6018. Magistrate records sit at the Annex, 104 A Leslie Highway, PO Box 530. That office takes calls at 229-759-6016 or 229-759-6031, plus email at magistrate@leecountyga.gov.
Give the clerk real specifics. Name the court and the exact case number. Add the case type and the document or event title. Add the date range and say whether you want a plain or certified copy. Ask up front about the fee, payment method, delivery options, and turnaround. County open-records copy charges do not control court-copy prices. Lee Superior posts no set certified civil-copy fee. If the case number has slipped away, try another route. The Lee County case search can usually recover it. Save the filing title and its entry date. A clerk works faster from those details than from a broad party-name request.
